MATERNITY/PATERNITY LEAVE

Periods of time that you are not in Covered Employment due to maternity or paternity leave will not cause you to lose the pension service credits you have earned—you will not have a Break-in-Service.

Maternity/paternity leave is granted for time off related to:

  • your pregnancy
  • the birth of a child
  • the adoption of a child
  • the care of a child immediately following birth or adoption
An absence will not be considered maternity/paternity leave unless you return to Covered Employment at the end of the absence.
