STOP SMOKING BENEFITS

If you are a smoker, there is now assistance available to help you.

Assistance is available to you and to your spouse if you are eligible for dependent coverage.

There is no cost to you or your spouse.

The Health Plan has partnered with the American Cancer Society to offer their nationally-recognized Stop Smoking Program. The program uses a combination of phone counseling and nicotine replacement drugs to achieve some of the highest “quit rates” in the country.

All you have to do is call the toll-free Quitline at 1-866-532-7848 to speak to one of the American Cancer Society’s trained counselors. Identify yourself as a “UFCW Midwest Plan” member and be ready to provide the ID number from your UFCW/BlueCross health card. This ID number is in the bottom left side of your card and begins with “UFC 803.”

It will be tougher to quit in the future. Recent studies show that the nicotine levels in the most popular brands of cigarettes have increased by over 10% in the last decade. This makes cigarettes more addictive and harder to quit. If this trend continues, it will be tougher to quit in the future than it is now. Don’t let this happen to you.

If you smoke, call the American Cancer Society Quitline at 1-866-532-7848 today.
